Studying and locating geographical locations can increase our understanding of the Book of Mormon events.  The following information and maps give a few examples of taking geographical information recorded in the Book of Mormon and comparing, matching, and correlating this information with archaeological discoveries and actual geographical locations.

The The Book of Mormon is a Historical/Scriptural record “of the people of Nephi, and also of the Lamanites…” and also “a record of the people of Jared who were scattered at the time the Lord confounded the language of the People, when they were building a tower to get to heaven…”  (Title page)

This Historical record in the Western Hemisphere, spans a time period of almost 3000 years.
There being wars, destructions, apostasy, and a scattering by boat and by land, of people both northward and southward upon this western Hemisphere.   If we would look at the exploration and populating of the Anglos from Europe, into what is now called the United States of America.  They traveled for the most part “Westward”.  This crossing across the United States really only took about 300 years.
Regardless of where the Jaredites, Mulekites, and Lehi and his family landed. They would have and did spread out.  The rejecting of the gospel of Jesus Christ by these Book of Mormon people was completed by 421 A.D. This left the apostate direct descendants of any remaining Book of Mormon people in the Americas. They also slowly continued to scatter.

By 1492 A.D. evidence indicates that
the direct descendants of the Jaredites and Lamanites scattered at least as far south as Peru and as far north as into the United States.
