The Prophet Joseph Smith Received Revelation about Current and Future Events.
There is an interesting scripture in the Bible concerning "How shall we know" if someone who claims to be a Prophet is really a true Prophet. Some call this scripture in the Bible, “The Biblical test of a true Prophet”.
If someone is a false Prophet the "thing" or a statement of a future event, prophecy, will not "come to pass". But if that prophecy, does "come to pass," then he is a true Prophet.
That scripture is as follows;
“And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.” (Deuteronomy 18:21-22)

All of the following prophecies given by the Prophet Joseph Smith took place and were true. Any and all prophecies by Joseph Smith about future events, were fulfilled.
1. The Prophet Joseph Smith received revelation concerning Newel K. Whitney’s personal prayers.
2. The Prophet Joseph Smith received revelation concerning the activities, travel and exact arrival time of David Whitmer.
3. The Prophet Joseph Smith received revelation concerning guns that had been taken from the U.S. army and were being delivered to an anti-Mormon mob. The Prophet said that they would “get those arms”. These guns were obtained, and returned to the U.S. Army.
4. The Prophet Joseph Smith received revelation concerning the safe return of John Taylor “with inside of a week”.
5. The Prophet Joseph Smith received revelation concerning the unknown fact of a man being an “Adulterer”.
6. The Prophet Joseph Smith received revelation concerning the fact that he would be martyred. “I shall not be sacrificed until my time comes; then I shall be offered freely.”
7. The Prophet Joseph Smith received revelation concerning the future fact that Joseph Smith’s son “would be the means of drawing many people away from this Church after him”. Thus some were drawn away into the “Reorganized Church”.
8. The Prophet Joseph Smith received revelation concerning the fact that “sickness would enter into the houses of the mob and vex them…”
9. The Prophet Joseph Smith received revelation concerning his death.
“…if I or Hyrum were ever taken again we should be massacred, or I was not a Prophet of God” “If you go back I will go with you, but we shall be butchered.” “It is of no use to hurry, for we are going to be slaughtered.” “I am going like a lamb to the slaughter; But I am calm as a summer’s morning; I have a conscience void of offense towards God, and towards all man. I shall die innocent, and it shall yet be said of me – he was murdered in cold blood.” “if some of you had such a farm, and knew you would not see it any more you would want to take a good look at it for the last time.”
10. The Prophet Joseph Smith received revelation concerning the future fact that Willard Richard’s Life would be preserved while his friends would fall around him. “The time would come that the balls would fly around him like hail, and he should see his friends fall on the right and on the lift, but that there should not be a hole in his garment.”
11. The Prophet Joseph Smith received revelation concerning the future fact that the Saints would settle in the West. “I prophesied that the saints would continue to suffer much affliction and would be driven to the Rocky Mountains, many would apostatize, others would be put to death by our persecutors, or lose their lives in consequence of exposure or disease and some of you will live to go and assist in making settlements and building cities and see the saints become a mighty people in the mist of the Rocky Mountains.” (Given Aug. 6, 1842.)
12. The Prophet Joseph Smith received revelation concerning the fact that “…Anson, he shall go and shall assist in building up cities…and many…will assist in building cities and temples…”
13. The Prophet Joseph Smith received revelation concerning a future extra ordinary event of “falling stars” that would take place with-in the next “forty days”. “Forty days shall not pass and the stars shall fall from heaven.”

14. The Prophet Joseph Smith received revelation concerning the fact that if Olmsted Johnson “went away” he “would never return or see his father again.”
15. The Prophet Joseph Smith received revelation, just as the Prophet Moses received Revelation, as recorded in (Numbers 20:11), as to what to do, so as to provide, water to the Israelites who were in need of water. So also the Prophet Joseph Smith was instructed by Revelation on what to do so that those people (Zions Camp) who were traveling with the Prophet might receive the much needed water.
16. The Prophet gave instructions to Israel Barlow that would save his life. "let them put your horse up for you and eat supper with them, but when it becomes sundown, sadle your house and leave. They will be insistent and try to persuade you to remain over-night. But if you value your life, do not stay, but leave, and listen to the direction of the Spirit."
17. The very first time that Moroni came to Joseph Smith in the year 1823. The 17 years old, Joseph Smith, was told by Moroni, “that he was a messenger sent from the presence of God to me, and that his name was Moroni; that God had a work for me to do; and that my name should be had for good and evil among all nations, kindreds, and tongues, or that it should be both good and evil spoken of among all people." (Joseph Smith—History 1:33)
This prophecy given by Moroni, to Joseph Smith, has been fulfilled and is at this time being fulfilled.
Millions of people “through-out the world” know Joseph Smith's name for “evil”, so also millions know that Joseph Smith was and is a “good” man and a true Prophet.
That Prophecy by the Angle Moroni has been and is now continuing to be fulfilled.
Example; In (The World's Largest Online Newspaper Archive dating from 1759 to the present year, covering over 5,000 Newspapers), the name, Joseph Smith, has over 8,000,000 articles about Joseph Smith in there archive. Joseph Smith's name would be spoken of among all people.
18. Revelation and prophect on war, given through Joseph Smith the Prophet on December 25, 1832 and recorded in Doctrine and Covenants 87.
