Ixtlilxochitl, a native Indian prince who lived near Mexico City, knew that there had been “divine books” in Mesoamerica in very early times. He tells of the compilation of a "divine book" by a man called "Huematzin".

Ixtlilxochitl gives a particular date for the lifetime of Huematzin, which was the year 400 after the true birth of Christ. According to Ixtlilxochitl, the divine book of Hematzin, covers a period from the creation until their time in century XII DC.
