"The Place That Was Called Nahom"

"And it came to pass that we did again take our journey, traveling nearly the same course as in the beginning; and after we had traveled for the space of many days we did pitch our tents again, that we might tarry for the space of a time."

"And it came to pass that Ishmael died, and was buried in the place which was called Nahom
."   (1 Nephi 16:32-36)  600-592 BC

The name "Nahom" in The Book of Mormon was only found in the Book of Mormon until it was discovered on three Ancient alters located in southern Arabia by a German archaeological team in the ruined temple of Bar'an in Marib, Ancient Yemen.

Inscribed altars dedicated by a man named Biathar of the tribe of Nihm in the seventh or sixth century BC.

Inscribed on the altars is; [Nahom, or NHM]. or "the place that was called Nahom".
Located at site in Yemen, on the southwest corner of the Arabian Peninsula. Archaeologists date it back to at least 700 BC

 "
I suggested that in addition to the witness of the Holy Ghost, the number of new names identifying people, places, animals, and things in the Book of Mormon had impressed me.   ...I am...impressed by these new names. When researchers reported that they have discovered stones in the southern Arabian Desert with the name Nahom inscribed on them, I paid attention. These inscriptions appear to be dated about 700 BC.
Ishmael, we read, was buried in a place called Nahom. Nahom is one of those names that impressed me.
Evidence of the authenticity of the Book of Mormon continues to mount."    (Elder John K. Carmack of the Seventy, Ensign MAY 2001   United in Love and Testimony
